Awesome Content is Directly Opposed to Massive Adoption
My previous article titled Signal to Noise: Twitter, Blogging, and Your Other Crap sparked a few really great comments from folks. It seems many more people are now wrestling with the information overload. There s now official terms even: Email Bankruptcy , RSS Bankruptcy , and Twitter Bankruptcy (not to mention actual financial bankruptcy because we spend all day learning and not doing). But who cares about official terms when I can barely spend 30 seconds to read the rest of this article

Feed Advertising
Feed Advertising October 17th, 2007 RSS feeds have long been a location for advertisement for commercial products or services. We have also seen the arrival of feed powered ads where the content of an advert generally in widget format hosted on a website is provided via an RSS feed. A good example is the feed-powered advertising model on Gabe Rivera s popular news tracking site Techmeme. Although not new at the time (CNET, nooked, Pheedo, Feedburner and others had done this before) this

Today is RSS Awareness Day. The goal of today is to increase knowledge about RSS so the general public is more familiar with the concept. A little over a year ago I wrote a post that turned out to be one of my most popular ever. So, to have a bit of fun, I want to revisit that post and see how my relationship with Google has evolved in the past 365+ days. So come on. Take another trip with me through my day with Google. 5:15am: Ugh. The day starts to my blaring clock radio. There is an ad running that Google has sold through ClearChannel. 5:30am: I get up, take a shower and go to the home office to check my Gmail account.

Its a sensational title, isnt it? The good news is, her success can be replicated. In February, Cyndee moved a version of her WordPress blog to the RSS Pieces Real Estate Blog platform after the WordPress version fell out of the se

Green-minded Bloggers Celebrate Earth Day with EPIC Coverage
Kicking off Earth Day 2008, a group of eco-minded social media makers produced over 50 pieces of social media at the EPIC Sustainable Living Expo in Vancouver April 18-20. The multi-media coverage including audio podcasts, video clips, blog articles, and a vast collection of photos. In all, the crowd-sourced campaign featured over 70 eco-conscious businesses and sustainability minded organizations, plus numerous presenters and even a green episode of CBC s the Dragon s Den. Objective The objective of the RSS Awareness Day is to get as many people as possible talking about RSS and its benefits on May 1st. Bloggers and blog readers are already aware of the RSS format, but if enough of them talk about it perhaps the mainstream media will cover it as well, and the general public will get exposed to it. If people start reading about RSS and how it can help them everywhere, I am sure that some will get curious at least to try it out. Over the time the usage of
Viigo: BlackBerry Feed Reader
I’ve installed a new gadget for my BlackBerry. It’s called Viigo. Reading news on a BlackBerry is not easy. There is a built-in browser, but like most mobile browsers, it suffers from the lack of screen space. Visit in a site that uses Java or complicated style sheets optimized for large screen, and many pages become a jumble of unconnected nonsense. Some sites spend the money on professional web designs that reconfigure based on the device being used to render the page, but they are the e

I had over 26,000 visitors and over 40,000 pageviews, but the more important thing to note is that I ve consistently had 800-1000 visitors per day. It shows that Clever Dude is still growing in readership and maintaining steady growth. Subscriber Growth Speaking of readership, the
Google to Launch Next Gen Blog Advertising Network?
I m sure such an announcement is imminent within the next year or two. Sure Google has Adwords and Adsense, but that s nothing compared to what they ll be ultimately be able to do. Anyone who has played around with the Trends feature in Google Reader knows what I m talking about. As an RSS reader, Google Reader has an enormous portion of the market and it s growing. For example, at last check 38% of Andy Beard s traffic was via Google Reader. For LeveragingIdeas it s more like 55%. As blogs

Google is (still) stalking me
A little over a year ago I wrote a post that turned out to be one of my most popular ever.

Today is RSS Awareness Day. The goal of today is to increase knowledge about RSS so the general public is more familiar with the concept. Organizers are hopefully that the exposure to RSS will increase the usage of feeds and Internet applications that support RSS. For those not familiar with RSS, it stands for Really Simple Syndication. You can subscribe to a feed in a browser like Internet Explorer 7. If you have ever noticed an orange icon that highlights when you are on a blog, t
